How to Use Planning Poker
Create a Room
Choose a deck type (Fibonacci or T-Shirt sizing), enter your name, and click "Create Room". Share the link with your team.
Add Tasks
The facilitator adds tasks to estimate. Click on a task to start voting. Each team member selects a card privately.
Reveal & Discuss
Once everyone votes, the facilitator reveals all cards. Discuss any large discrepancies, then set the final estimate.
Track Blockers
Identify blockers for each task. The AI Complexity track provides an additional scoring dimension beyond story points.
Why Planning Poker?
Reduce Estimation Bias
When team members vote privately before revealing, anchoring bias is eliminated. No one is influenced by the senior developer's estimate or the manager's expectations.
Surface Hidden Complexity
Large discrepancies in estimates reveal misunderstandings early. If one developer says 2 and another says 13, there's crucial knowledge that needs sharing.
Build Shared Understanding
The discussion after reveal is where the real value lies. The team aligns on scope, identifies risks, and builds collective ownership of the estimate.
